Obituary of Dean Kenneth Kinsolving

Graveside services for Dean Kenneth Kinsolving, 66, of Tatum, NM will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Tatum Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Dean was born on March 17, 1952 in Clovis, NM to Kenneth and Ludell (Anderson) Kinsolving and passed away on September 27, 2018 at the family ranch. He spent his childhood in Crossroads, NM where he and his sister, Lou Ann, spent their days running the dirt path between both sets of grandparents whose ranches neighbored. They also grew up working in the family businesses of ranching and oilfield trucking. Dean attended Tatum schools and graduated Salutatorian of the Class of 1970. In 1975, he received his B.A. degree in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry from Texas Tech University. In December of 1975 he married Brenda Evans of Meadow, TX. They were married for twenty eight years and raised their three children, Jenna, Ashley and C.J. on the family ranch east of Tatum. Dean was baptized at the Crossroads Baptist Church and was a long-time member of Tatum Baptist Church. He served the public in many capacities, such as Roosevelt County Telephone Co-op, Lea County Fair Board for eight years, Lea County Soil and Water Conservation Board and Lea County Electric Co-op for thirty three years. He was a lifetime member of AQHA and The National Rifle Assoc. and a charter member of Lea County Cowboy Hall of Fame and long-time member of NM Cattle Growers. He loved the Omega Bar brand, the ranching life , sound of windmills, bawling calves, mule deer hunting, Charolais cattle, his friends and his family, especially his seven grandchildren, Sterling, Stoney, Hannah, Kimber, Kenyon, Judd, and Stetson. He will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Kenneth and Ludell Kinsolving.
Surviving him is his son: C.J. and wife Kaitlin Kinsolving of Crossroads, NM; two daughters: Jenna and husband Jeff Decker of Lovington and Ashley and husband Josh Crow of Quanah, TX; one sister: Lou Ann and husband John Bob Stearns of Crossroads, NM and his Aunt Lillian Graham of Roswell, NM; also several cousins and many friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the WRCA (Working Ranch Cowboys Assoc.) Foundation, 408 SW 7th Ave, Amarillo, TX, 79101. On the memo line please put "in Memory of Dean Kinsolving"
