Obituary of Elizabeth Pena

Funeral services for Elizabeth "Lisa" Peña, 67, of Lovington, NM will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Jesus Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Lisa was born in San Juan, NM on December 8, 1950 to Rogelio and Beneranda (Jir?n) Gallegos and passed away on September 28, 2018 in Lovington. She grew up in Rocky Ford, Co and attended school at Swink, CO. She married Jose "Pepe" Peña in Lovington in October of 1967 and they raised seven children together. Lisa liked socializing with people and sold Home Interiors, Avon, and Princess House items for several years. She enjoyed dancing to "oldies" and Spanish music and also liked sewing and baking. Her greatest enjoyment was playing Bingo, a lot and often. She loved her family and spoiled her grandchildren with love. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter: Sylvia Elizabeth Peña; one granddaughter: Jacqueline Valerie Peña-Villanueva and five sisters: Cecilia Romero, Betty Hernandez, Feloniz Gallegos, Tillie Gonzales and Tomasita Gallegos and one brother: David Gallegos. Surviving her is her husband, Jose of fifty years; two sons: Joe Peña Jr and companion Irene Jimenez of Hobbs, NM and Paul Peña and companion Amber Flores of Hobbs, NM; four daughters: Lori Peña and companion Francisco Acosta of Hobbs, Corinna and husband Guillermo Garcia of Lovington, Christina Peña of Lovington and Yolanda and husband Arturo Villanueva of Hobbs; nineteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also two brothers: Benny Gallegos of San Juan, NM and Louie Gallegos of La Junta, CO. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the funeral home from 10:00 am until Rosary time. Rosary will be at 7:00 pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
