Leslie Fort Covington July 05, 1965 - March 18, 2017 Leslie Fort Covington, dedicated mother, and wife died suddenly this past Saturday, March 18, at her home in Slaton, Texas. She was 51 years old. Leslie was known for her dedication to her three children, her strong leadership and work ethic, and always stepped up to every difficult task put in front of her. She was loved by her community as she spent her time teaching Sunday school at Victory Life Church, and led many projects at the schools her children attended. She also led a successful professional career with Fresenius Kabi Pharmaceuticals and worked hard to provide for her family. Leslie was born in Odessa, Texas on July 5, 1965 to Sally and Royce Fort. She grew up in Midland, Texas, was involved in the high school band, and was honored in the All State Orchestra. After high school graduation, she attended Texas Tech University obtaining a Master’s Degree in Music Performance and completed a minor in Elementary Education. She was such a natural in music and performance that she performed in many concerts over her lifetime, playing with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, and studying in France for a semester with a music program. She also often performed at various events and church services. Her funeral service will be held at Victory Life Baptist Church in Lubbock, Texas at 10 a.m. Texas Time on Thursday, March 23, 2017 with burial services afterwards in Tatum, New Mexico at 3 p.m. (New Mexico Time). Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home of Lovington, NM. She is survived by her children, Kayl (10), Koupper (15) and Karlly (18); her parents, Sally and Royce Fort of Lovington, New Mexico; her brother, Mark Fort, of San Antonio and his daughter, Kelli. A sister and brother in law, Jeannie and Jimmy Hampton and their children, Libby, Ella and Beck of San Jose, Costa Rica. The family is overwhelmed by the support and love from community, and thanks to Chris Hutson and the Texas Tech FCU, there is now a Covington Children’s Fund.
