Obituary of Carolyn Danford

Graveside funeral services for Carolyn Danford, 83, of Mandeville, LA and formerly of Eunice, NM will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10:00 am at Brunson Cemetery in Eunice, NM with Pastor Dennis Teeters officiating. Visitation will be on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 1:-00 pm until 6:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home in Lovington, NM. Carolyn was born in Artesia, NM on December 14, 1934 to Boone and Anabelle (Kimble) Jones and passed away in Mandeville, LA on November 27, 2018. She graduated from Artesia High School and in 1953 on February 19th, she married Glenn Danford in Carlsbad, NM. She became a homemaker for her husband and their two sons and was active in her community, her church and her family's lives. She enjoyed baking, traveling, and doing crafts and gardening. One of Carolyn's great passions was the Order of Eastern Star. She was initiated into Jal Chapter # 60 on October 29, 1970 and dueled with Eunice # 66 in April of 1979. She worked diligently in both Chapters and served as Worthy Matron at Jal in 1977 and again in 1997. From October of 1992 until October of 1993 she served the State of New Mexico as Worthy Grand Matron which was a challenging responsibility that she met with great aplomb and wisdom. Carolyn received her lifetime membership in the Order of Eastern Star on October 1, 1997. She was the kind of person you liked being around and not only was she interesting, but she was kind and caring. She was the epitome of grace and elegance. She was well- known throughout the Eastern Star world and loved by all. But her family was her greatest love and joy! Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glenn and one son: David. Surviving her is one son: Dan Danford of Springfield, LA; two brothers: Don and wife Diane Jones of Buckeye, Arizona and Richard and wife Glenda Jones of Royse, TX; four grandchildren: Shirlinda Danford Savahl and husband Sharief , Carol Danford, Danielle Danford Espinal and husband David and Lindsey Danford; Seven great-grandchildren: Maylinda Owen, Emily Shavahl, Joshua and Colton Mcelhone, Ian and Isaac Espinal, and Kolton Corbell; two nephews: Richard and Randy Jones; one niece, Lisa Ann Jones Benson Jones and a host of friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimers in memory of Carolyn. .
