Obituary of Eldon Lynn Shirey

Funeral services for Eldon Lynn Shirey, 72, of Pearland, TX will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John McClean officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Mr. Shirey was born in Portales, NM on May 31, 1946 to Clarence Oren and Martha (Denerson) Shirey and passed away at his home in Pearland, TX on December 18, 2018. He graduated from Midland High School. While at high school, he loved playing sports. He was a lineman for the MHS football team and was President of the Student Council at MHS. He continued his studies after graduation at Texas Tech University. Eldon was self-employed and did remodeling on model trains and overhauled motors for model trains. He was the "go to guy" to help fix their model trains. Highly respected and well known as "THE MOTORMAN" for buying and selling motors all over the world and his saying was always: Happy Trains !!! He was a Christian and a spiritual man; a father who was an encourager, very thoughtful and always praised his kids. Eldon was also considerate of others. He had faith that could move mountains and he had more faith than sense. He was an independent soul who always did things "his way." He had a heart of gold and will be greatly missed. Preceding him in death were his parents and one infant sister: Deborah Shirey. Surviving him is his son and two daughters: Eldon Lynn Shirey II and wife Christina, Ragan Harris and husband Eric and Emily Yarish and husband Jim; seven grandchildren: Breanna Harris, Blake and wife Mandy Harris, Blane Harris, Jason Shirey, Jessica Shirey, Brooke Yarish and Corey Yarish; great-grandchildren: Kairee, Aaliyah, Mila, Sadie, Jaxson and lil' Max on the way. Also, one sister: Jeannette and husband David LoPour of Lovington, NM; two brothers: Delbert and wife Loreta Shirey and Bobby and wife Cheryl Shirey and a host of friends.
