Memorial services for Floyd Keith Jones, 73, of Lovington, New Mexico will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel with Bro. Chad Wease officiating. Mr. Jones was born on March 22, 1945 in Gatesville, TX to W. B. and Cathrin (Evetts) Jones and passed away on December 22, 2018 in Lovington. He moved to Lovington when he was in grade school. He served in the US Army from 1965 to 1971. He married Sarah Pope on May 3, 1968 in Lovington and they have shared 50 years of life and love and family together. Floyd was a truck driver for several companies, including Halliburton, Pride and Navajo. He was a collector and loved guns and knives and was always trying to fix something. His passion was fishing and hunting and he would go to the Rio Grande to fish every chance he could. He was a good dad with a good sense of humor and enjoyed scaring his girls when they were watching scary movies. They had him wrapped around their fingers. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Surviving him is his wife Sarah of the home; three daughters: Renda and husband Bill Bowen of Roswell, NM, Jenny and husband Richard McBee of Carlsbad, NM and Christy and husband Johnny Montiel of Portales, NM; two brothers: Ricky and wife Theresa Jones of Lovington and Kermit and wife Trish Jones of Eastland, TX; one sister: Frankie McBeth of Lovington; seven grandchildren: Colton and wife Abby Owens , Hayden Montiel, Jonathan Montiel, Travis Owens, Mikaela Montiel, Rance McBee and Melody McBee and one great grandchild: Colby Owens; also two that were like his grandkids: Trace and Andy Wilhoit.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude National Cancer Society for Children.
