Reynaldo Crespin November 17, 1927 - October 15, 2012 Funeral Services for Reynaldo “Ray” Crespin will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lovington, NM at 10:00 am with Ty Bean, Pastor of Cowboy Junction Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 10:30 am. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Crespin was born in San Miguel, NM on November 17, 1927 to Macario and Ana (Salazar) Crespin and passed away on October 15, 2012 in Hobbs, NM. He graduated from Highland High School in Las Vegas and attended New Mexico Highlands University where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. During this time, he met and married the love of his life, Irene (Estrada) Crespin in 1949. They shared 63 wonderful years together. Reynaldo served in the Armed Forces, enlisting in the US Air Force after graduation from high school. He was stationed in San Antonio, TX for one year. Later he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Germany for two years. After being honorably discharged in 1954, he remained in the US Army Reserve for 15 years. Early in his career he was a school teacher and then served as a social worker at the New Mexico State Hospital. He eventually became the administrator of the NM State Hospital and Meadow’s Hospital, as well. He retired in 1985, after 30 years of service. After retirement he was able to spend more time ranching and working with his horses. Reynaldo and Irene moved to Lovington, NM in 2005 to be closer to family. He moved into Desert Gardens Memory Care in 2007 where he resided for the last five years. He bravely battled Alzheimer’s disease. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Margaret Rodriguez. He is survived by his wife, Irene of the home; one daughter, Anna Maria and husband, Frank Gardner of Lovington; one granddaughter, Raelyn and husband Dillon Fuqua of Lovington; and one great-grandson, Hayden Joe Fuqua. Also surviving him is a brother-in-law, Eddie Rodriquez of Santa Fe, NM and nieces and nephews; Charlene, Martha, Lorenzo and Jesus. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff in the Garden House at Desert Gardens Assisted Living and also, thank you to VistaCare Hospice.
