Memorial services for Kenneth Ray Flowers, 66, of Tatum, NM will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 5:00 pm at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home with Guy Payne officiating. Kenneth was born on September 30, 1952 in Salus, Arkansas to Odie Ed and Sally Evelyn (Curtis) Flowers and passed away at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX on December 29, 2018. Kenneth came to New Mexico when he was very young and became a lifetime Lea County resident. He had a Bachelor's Degree in Science and a Master's in Education. He loved teaching and enabling people to learn. He taught at NMJC and also at Pecos, NM and was well-known in the world of Libraries. He was very involved with library and reading groups and the State of NM Library System. Kenneth was a great teacher and loved anything to do with Books. He was the author of "Breathe" that was published about COPD, (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). His main passion was photography, but he loved people, animals, books and teaching. He had a great sense of humor and was loved by many people. Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister: Linda Ruth Belcher. Surviving him are his two brothers: Paul and wife Betty Flowers of Lovington, NM and James Flowers and Dana of Tatum, NM; two sisters: Sharon Waller of Tatum, NM and Mary Dickinson of Slaton, TX; three nieces: Teresa Becerra, Cashmere Belcher and Veronica Flowers; two nephews: Carl Flowers and David Jennings; and his long time very good friend: Guy Payne. In lieu of flowers, Kenneth's request was to donate to any animal shelter of your choice in his memory.
