Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Memorial graveside service for Deborah Ann Hensley, 66, will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Jal Cemetery with Chaplain Dennis Durfee and Bro. Alan Speed officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Deborah was born on January 18, 1952 in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and passed away on January 4, 2019 in Hobbs, NM. She was the daughter of Odus and Louella Kelley of Jal, NM. Deborah was raised in Jal and attended school there, graduating from Jal High School. She loved animals and would even pick up strays to bring home and care for also. She became a chemist and was employed for many years at El Paso Products in their lab and then worked for Texas DOT, retiring from DOT. Most of her adult life was spent in Odessa, TX and she enjoyed living a simple life. Little things made her happy and she especially liked going deep sea fishing at Victoria with her good friend, Debbie. They would go at least one time a year to just fish and have fun. Deborah really enjoyed fishing and playing golf. One of her favorite passions was spending time with her nieces and nephews and spoiling them. She loved them like they were her own and they "all" had a lot of fun together. She was the kind of person that would give you the shirt off her back if it would help you. Deborah was a great singer with a beautiful voice and loved music. In earlier years she sang in the choir at First Baptist Church of Odessa. The last few years Deborah has lived at the Beehive in Hobbs under the loving care of the kind and gentle care givers she came to love. Deborah was a gentle soul with a sweet smile and a kind, giving heart and she loved and was loved. Preceding her in death was her father, Odus Kelley. Surviving her is her mother: Louella Kelley of Hobbs, NM; one sister: Jania and husband Mike Pearce of Jal, NM; one nephew: Phillip and wife Chelsea Pearce of Cedar Park, TX and one niece: Ginger and husband Ross Peters of Midland, TX and seven great nieces and nephews that she adored and many friends. In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 112 El Paso Drive, Jal, NM 88252 and stipulate for the "window fund" in her memory. .
