Graveside memorial service for Arland Hamilton Bishop Sr. will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:00 am at Lovington Cemetery with the family officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. . Arland Hamilton Bishop, Sr. (Captain-USAF), passed away at age 84 in Arlington, Texas, on December 11, 2018. He was born on December 1, 1934 in Lovington, New Mexico. His parents were Hamilton "Ham" Bishop and Lily Stoneham Bishop. Arland was a highly decorated Veteran of the Vietnam War. After he retired, he taught flying lessons and also flew for Texas Parks and Wildlife. Arland was passionate about aviation and was a member of the Daedalians, a fraternal organization of military aviators. When he was no longer able to fly, due to health reasons, he lived a quiet life. He enjoyed watching sports on television. He also loved to tell stories of his adventures. Arland is survived by his son Arland Bishop Jr. of Arlington, Texas, his brother Dru Bishop and his wife Lela of Clifton, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his father, Ham Bishop, his mother, Lily Bishop, his sister, Betty Jones and his brother, John Ray Bishop.
