Obituary of Linda Gay Gillespie

Funeral services for Linda Gillespie, 59, of Lovington, NM will be held on February 22, 2019 at 10:00 am at New Beginnings Church with David Villar officiating. Burial will follow at Lovington Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Linda was born on August 2, 1959 in Hobbs, NM to Robert and Bennie (Spicer) McCubbin and passed away on February 16, 2019 in Lubbock, TX. She grew up in Lovington and attended school here also. Linda loved spending time with her family and really enjoyed going on river trips with them and cooking for them, as she loved to cook and bake and even taught Bobby and Tina how to cook. She liked going on trips with her sister, Brenda and they traveled to several different places to just enjoy being together. Linda was the epitome of a loving mother and grandmother and a "praying Momma" as they described her. She attended church at New Beginnings and was thankful to God for Anthony Brewer and she loved God for all He did for her family. She also was fond of gardening and flowers," if" she could get Bobby to do the work for her. Alan Jackson gospel music and old rock and roll music was her favorite music but her passion was loving and praying for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Matthew Anderson; and several brother and sisters. Surviving her is her husband: Michael Gillespie of Lovington, NM; one son Bobby and wife Rhonda Anderson of Lovington, NM; one daughter: Tina Oldaker of Lovington, NM; one sister: Brenda Prysock of Hobbs, NM; nine grandchildren: Linda, Baily, Bobby, Allen, Janis, Amy, Heather, Michael and Matthew. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 11:00 am until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
