Graveside services for Ross Wesley Kennedy, 85, of Tatum, NM will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 10:00 am at Tatum Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Brazil officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mr. Kennedy was born on November 11, 1933 in Arch, NM to Howlin Burr and Ina Mae (Burke) Kennedy and passed away on March 8, 2019 in Hobbs, NM. He married Bonnie Lou Davis in Portales, NM on March 30, 1953 and they shared sixty four years together. Ross loved ranching, it was his passion and in all his years of being employed he held three jobs. He worked for George White on the Yellowhouse Ranch at Littlefield, TX and the Hasell Ranch at Earth, TX and then for thirty five years for Charles Good on the Caprock. Ross was a Brand Inspector in later years and he won the Working Cowboy award in 1999, from the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He enjoyed playing dominoes and "42" and had a liking for gardening. He served his country in the US Army between the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He loved his family. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife: Bonnie Lou; three sisters: Nell, Dell and Rae Dean and one grandson: Chris Martin. Surviving him are his two sons: Ricky and wife Sharla Kennedy of Tatum and Randle and wife Laurette Kennedy of Grand Canyon, AZ; three sisters: Norma Baker of Las Cruces, NM, Jan Maes of Albuquerque, NM and Floy Jean Clark of Baker, Oregon and two granddaughters: Laci Jae Kennedy and Ashley Mullinax; one Grandson: Ronnie Wayne Kennedy and three great-grandsons: Ryan William Kennedy, Reece Wyatt Kennedy and Cooper Mullinax.
