Please share a memory of Jackie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Obit for Jackie Washburn Memorial Services for Jackie Dan Washburn will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 10:00 am at First Christian Church with Mike Crow officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Jackie was born to his parents Dan and Jewel in Floydada, Texas on July 28, 1953 and passed from this life after a lengthy illness on March 29, 2019 in Lubbock, Texas at 65 years of age. As you can see, Jackie was loved by many family and friends and influenced many, throughout his life. Jackie spent forty years in the oilfield in Southeast New Mexico and West Texas. He was loyal and made many friends where he worked, to include Marshall R. Young, Stanolind Operating Company, and Memorial in Midland. Marie wanted to especially thank Ray DuBose for being Jackie's good friend and co-worker. While living in New Mexico many years, Jackie traveled back to his home state of Texas daily. In fact, Texas held a big spot in his heart. Jackie loved his western movies – especially John Wayne and the movie "McClintock." His family was the most important thing in his life. If you were part of the family, you could expect him to give you a hard time. We all understood that as love. Jackie had a big heart. Whether it was helping someone in the heat of day get a motel room, tow their vehicle or give them a ride, pick up a hitch-hiker, or give large gifts to St. Jude's that was Jackie. The next time you think of Jackie, think of Hebrews 13.2. "Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, sister Pat White, brother-in-law Daryl White, and grandson Hunter Noack. He is survived by wife Marie of Lovington, New Mexico, daughter Shae Crow and Mike of Anna, Texas, daughter Heather Wells of China Springs, Texas, son Shane Noack and Tami of Hobbs, New Mexico, sisters, Barbara York and Joe Wayne of Tatum, New Mexico, Joy Dawson and James of Post, Texas, and Jeannie Kidd of Gun Barrel, Texas. He also leaves behind grandchildren Ashley, Jake, Glen, Kaitlyn, Christian, Ethan, Erica, and Hailey and great-grand daughters Alana and Ava Grace and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will gather at a later time and scatter Jackie's remains in Roaring Springs, Texas near his childhood home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 02, 2019, from 1:30 ~ 3:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers you may donate to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
