John Reuben Stroh, 78, of Lovington, NM passed away on October 16, 2024.
John was born on September 5, 1946 to Rachel and Reuben Stroh in Greeley, CO. After John graduated from Lovington High School, he went on to study pharmaceuticals at the University of New Mexico, graduating college in 1970.
Shortly after graduating John was drafted into the Army and served his country as a pharmacist in Korea for a few years. After his tour in Korea John returned to the United States where he continued his medical career while stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky. It was there that he had his twin daughters, Delores and Denise. The first multiple births ever recorded at the Fort Knox base. After Fort Knox, John relocated to southern New Mexico, eventually landing in Lovington. It was in Lovington where he settled down, continuing his career by purchasing and operating City Drug. Furthering his career, he worked at Nor Lea, where fate brought his wife, Nellie, into his life. Rounding out his career he worked at B&J Drug and Michael's Pharmacy. John filled his days enjoying life with his family. He enjoyed golfing with his grandkids, and traveling with his family and friends.
John was predeceased in death by his parents, his brothers George Stroh and Thomas Stroh. He is survived by his loving wife Nellie Stroh, his daughter Delores Stroh-Scharf and her husband Justin Scharf, his daughter Denise Potter and her husband Roy King Potter, his step-daughter Terri Serna and his step-son Jerome Serna; two sisters: Alice Stroh of Plano, Texas and Rosina Potts of Evergreen Alabama; He also leaves behind four grandsons, Gavin Stroh and wife Mahala Stroh, Kaden Montgomery, Rodie Fuqua, and Rylan Fuqua, a granddaughter Danica Gonzales, and two great grandsons Jace Taylor and Kelly John Stroh.
Viewing will be on Sunday, October 20th from 1:00 until 4:00 pm at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home.
Services will be held at Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home in Lovington on Monday, October 21st at 1:00 pm.
