Obituary of Gloria Ilene Hamlin

Gloria Ilene Hamlin September 12, 1928 - January 01, 2017 Funeral services for Gloria Ilene Berryhill Hamlin, 88, of San Marcos, TX and formerly of Tatum, NM will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at 10:00 am at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home Chapel in Lovington with Tom Tvrdik officiating. Burial will follow at Tatum Cemetery. Gloria was born on September 12, 1928 in Tatum, NM to Lee and Ruth (Hickey) Berryhill and passed away on January 1, 2017 in San Marcos, TX. She was a long-time resident of Tatum until 2007 when she moved to Texas. She truly loved nature and loved to sit and watch the birds play in the bird bath and to work in her garden with her plants. Family was always very important to Glo and she stepped right up to raise her granddaughter, Gennifer, as well as countless trips to Hobbs to care for her mother, Ruth and eventually to care for her husband, George. She moved to Texas to be close to her great-grandaughter and watch her grow up, after the death of her son. Gloria was able to be close enough to Nicole that you would randomly find Nicole curled up in bed with her Grandma and for Nicole to always give her boyfriends the “Grandma test” to see if they were keepers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of fifty three years, George Henry Hamlin; one son: George Theron Hamlin; two brothers: Gary and Sherill Berryhill and sister-in-law: Catherine Berryhill. Surviving her is her granddaughter: Gennifer Hamlin Tvrdik and husband Greg of Buda, TX; her great-grandaughter and the light of her life, Nicole Tvrdik; two siblings: B. D. Berryhill and Patricia Berryhill Hodgson and husband David as well as her sister-in-laws: Wanda Berryhill and Marion Berryhill. In her final days Glo stated that she had the best hand of her life, so we take comfort in knowing that someday we will be on her team to watch her lay down that winning domino. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7th from 8:30 am until service time.
