Obituary of Merle Arledge-Prater

Merle Arledge-Prater June 14, 1909 - February 01, 2009 Funeral services for Merle Arledge Prater, 99, of Rancho Mirage, California, formerly of Lovington, will be Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Chapel with Rev. Vergil Ichtertz officiating. Burial will be at Lovington Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 6, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, February 7, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to service time at Kirby-Smith-Rogers Funeral Home. Mrs. Prater was born on June 14, 1909 in Hennessey, Oklahoma and passed away on February 1, 2009 in Rancho Mirage, California. She was married August 4, 1929 to Harry Arledge. In 1977 she married Bob Prater, a pharmacist from Hobbs. Mrs. Prater, who passed away, operated Arledge’s Dress Shop in Lovington for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, donating one of the stained glass windows at the church in honor of her husband, Harry Arledge. She is survived by one son, Leon Arledge and wife Jane of Farmington, N.M.; two daughters, Margie McNeill and husband Thomas of Palm Desert, CA. and Carol Ann King of Alto, N.M.; three grandsons and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Effie Yeoman; her first husband, Harry Arledge and her second husband, Bob Prater; three brothers and six sisters. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society District I 1404 North Kentucky, Roswell, New Mexico 88201.
