Deepest sympathies. I never met Charley, but he was my grandmother Velma McCausland Fischer's cousin. It sounds like he was a wonderful man who will be missed greatly.

Greg and Phyllis, you know how I loved your Daddy and your Mother. Who didn't? I have so vivid memories of being over there and Charley coming in and saying "Hi Nellie Belle" to me. That was our joke. He was always so kind to everyone and everyone loved him, including me. I love the both of you and praying for you in the coming days. Love ~ Cathy

The Famous Yankee Coach put the dream in my head that I could be great at baseball. His enthusiasm and his encouragement has stuck with me and continues to be a positive influence on me. Not only do I remember Charley, I can still see his face and hear his voice just like I did when I was 13 years old! I can only HOPE that 40 years from now, the 13 year olds that I am coaching can say the same thing about me! I am so sorry that I never thanked him.

Phyllis and Greg,
I always envied you your dad--outgoing, fun-loving, easy to talk to, and so very kind. Charley listened when you talked to him--and that twinkle in his eye! I am so grateful that he was a part of my childhood, and my life is richer because Charley and Peggy Pappas shared their home with me.
I love you, Phyllis and Greg, and I grieve for you. Please know that you're in my prayers, and I pray for wonderful happy memories as you think of your dad.
Blessings,
Pat
